I grew up in the woods of East Tennessee and there were always folk stories about different magical creatures in the woods. Throughout my life I’ve always loved reading high fantasy epics like Lord of the Rings and the Wheel of Time and I’m also a big fan of mythology and larger than life characters.

So as an artist I wanted to lean into promoting

I grew up in the woods of East Tennessee and there were always folk stories about different magical creatures in the woods. Throughout my life I’ve always loved reading high fantasy epics like Lord of the Rings and the Wheel of Time and I’m also a big fan of mythology and larger than life characters.

So as an artist I wanted to lean into promoting the things I really love and Sasquatch has always been one of those characters. In 2019 I started working with illustrators to create album art based on a place called The Savage Wild - a fantasy world where my music comes to life through illustration and in that Narnia-esque world, Sasquatch are some of the main characters.

I then had my illustrator come up with multiple pieces of art based on the prompts I gave him and had him create an avatar of me as Sasquatch in multiple iterations in The Savage Wild.

That push for creation was the spark for the song Sasquatch, but the song itself is a story song based in our world.

My goal is to always craft songs with depth and meaning but I also like to write stories that are fun and don’t take themselves too seriously. When I wrote this song I had no idea if people would like it, but it seemed to resonate every time I played it out and about and has become such a staple in my setlist that I wanted to bring it to life with the full band in a studio.
